I really, really enjoyed this story. I wouldn't consider it a romance, but more like a fictional romance with romantic elements. This story had a lot of emotional baggage in the persona of Cece Graves to deal with who happens to be rebecca's mother from book 1. She was a child born of adversity, literally as her mother was a prostitute and her father was her mother's pimp. She was violated when she was 13 that resulted in a pregnancy. Geez......if that isn't enough to deal with the drama continued and she couldn't seem to find peace for anything in the world.

Cece meets Norman's brother, Shane and he pursues her with the tenacity of ten men and he was everything a man should be to a woman in such an emotionally precarious situation as Cece has, who has never sought therapy for the things that she has seen in her lifetime. He was supportive and their journey was another hard one with moments of not knowing if they were going to make it due to Cece's inability to move past her trauma. Shane has his own demons to contend with but with Cece by his side, he feels that he can be no less courageous than she seems to be and they strengthen one another.

I can't say what happens in the story as I would ruin it, but at times some of the drama seemed over the top for one person to deal with, and it would have made me give the book four stars because it was still a very good read, but I had to bump it back up because it made me catch my breath on a near sob.......twice and if a story can have me emit physical emotion, it deserves five stars because I truly connected with the characters in some way.

This was an excellent book about the effect abuse has on it's victims long after the abuse is over. Very well done.
CeCe was a bit much I kept reading hoping that things would move along quicker but Ms. Ruvalcaba drug out a lot of the story unnecessarily. I get how CeCe was abused and the life she had growing up was awful but the way she butt in her daughter's life was too much!!!

The fact that Shane continued to have anything to do with her after knowing that she was keeping his brother and her daughter apart was unbelievable. This is when I lost interest in this story and couldn't give it 4 or 5 stars.

All I can say that the story began with a great start but soon it lost all it's flare. CeCe had too much baggage and the woe is woe is me was a bit much.

I really enjoyed this book. There's lessons to be learned.
I really enjoyed reading book 1 and book 2 was just as good. I think I found a new author and will be looking for more of her work. PS, don't keep me waiting to long.
I really liked it. What she did her son-in-law was funny at first, but she did to her daughter's marriage wasn't. But you can't blame her, hurting people hurt people. The all around story was great, it had everything, romance, suspense, you name it.
The story is a mix of romantic whimsicality combined with a darker side. It will keep you guessing until the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone and have recommended it to all my friends. It is definitely a book that you won’t want to put down. You will want to find out if the heroine can overcome her personal demons to keep the man who loves her.
Boy oh boy did I enjoy this book! I hope there's a continuation of these characters. I was crying in the end. I fell in love with the Graves and Gregory family. They were so accomplished and yet down to earth. I wanted to know all their secrets and yet read all the details in between. I just hope there's a sequel. I want to continue sharing their lives. Thanks so much for this book! Read this book and be pleasantly surprised like I was!
