When Holly Larson's widowed brother is called up by the National Guard and sent to Afghanistan, she quickly agrees to let his eight year old son Gabe live with her. Money is tight but she is saving every bit she can to get Gabe the toy robot he so badly wants. She loves Christmas, unlike Jake Finley and his father, owner of Finley's Department Store, who no longer celebrate Christmas after a tragedy. When Holly and Jake meet sparks fly - but Holly and Jake still need a miracle - Mrs. Miracle that is.

"Call Me Mrs. Miracle" is a sequel to Debbie Macomber's Mrs. Miracle and is an even more delightful read than the original. I was a little bit nervous about reading it because Macomber wrote it knowing it was going to be a movie and the producers wanted "the story to be the same...only different", but Macomber was up to the challenge and has come up with a book that is perfect for the holiday season and is bound to keep readers smiling. (Yes, there was some sadness in Jake's background story but even that has a "happy" ending.) Macomber's decision to have Finley's Department Store be located on 34th Street is an inspired one that adds a lot of charm to the story. The romance between Holly and Jake is very sweet, very cute, and just a bit magical. Gabe is a typical Macomber child - very good, although not above getting in a little bit of trouble (not on purpose) who is adjusting to the death of his mother and his father being away. Mrs. Miracle is one of my all time favorite Macomber characters (who now sounds just like Doris Roberts in my head) and it was nice to read another book about her - I'm crossing my fingers it becomes an annual tradition, much like the Cedar Cove books, to have a Mrs. Miracle book to read at Christmas (and maybe her friends Shirley, Goodness and Mercy could visit her). As an added bonus for her fans, Macomber includes some recipes from Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Cookbook (the fried chicken recipe sounds yummy).

"Call Me Mrs. Miracle" is another cute book by Debbie Macomber.

Love this book!! Thanks for sending this in such a timely manner!!
I am a big fan of Debbie macomber. She did not disappoint with this book as Mrs Miracle again help guide a couple in love. The ending of the book is very heart warming.
Another "feel good" book from Debbie Macomber. This is the second in the Mrs. Miracle grouping. Mickey Larson has gone to Afghanistan, his wife is deceased and he leaves his son Gabe with his sister Holly. Holly works for a designer Lindy Lee and is having a hard time making ends meet with another mouth to feed. She meets Jake Finley while getting her morning coffee at a nearby shop. Jake's family owns a very large department store where Mrs. Miracle is working as seasonal help in the toy department. And all ends well.
Call Me Mrs. Miracle Having never read anything by Debbie Macomber before yet seeing how wildly popular her books are, I decided to read this book.

The book was sweet, the characters did their jobs at being either likable or unlikable, and I felt it was a book worth finishing. I even believe that there are angels here on earth so I did not need to be persuaded. I just felt that the entire book was incredibly contrived,
and I wished I'd chosen a different book. It's a feel good book and that's a wonderful thing, so if you want light reading and a love story with a contrived, very perfectly stitched up ending, read this.
This bok bought me much joy. It reminded me of growing up in the 1930 when money was very scare and Christmas was just around the corner and my Mom said we girls (4) could just choose i thing we really wanted for Christmas . The one thing I wanted was a peacoat but I knew Mom and Dad did not have that kind of money so I said new shoes. I woke up on Christmas moring and we all went into the living room to open gifts. I gpt new mittens and socks. However their was no coat. I could barely hod back my tears when a knock came on the door and my Unce came in and handed me a box with my coat. The book brought back those memories and and I know how that child felt. I think of all the things children now and wonder if they will ever have good memories like I have
I am a huge fan of Debbie Macomber's "Mrs. Miracle" - it was everything I look for in a holiday read and I was so pleased. When I found out this latest book was coming out, I immediately pre-ordered it for my and had it on the first day it was published. I was eager to find out more of the adventures of Mrs. Miracle who was a wonderful character we were introduced to in the earlier book.

This Christmas tale is told from the perspective of Holly Larson, a young woman living in Manhattan who is the guardian for her 8-year-old nephew. She has taken responsibility for raising him while his father is stationed in Afghanistan (and his mother died when he was very young). Money is tight and her job is demanding, but she meets handsome, charming man at Starbuck's one morning in December and life begins to look much more rosy. Mrs. Miracle is the employee of this handsome stranger and she becomes central to the narrative as she knows things she can't possibly know and creates a warm, loving atmosphere wherever she is.

As with most Debbie Macomber books, you largely know how it will end when you read the opening pages, but I find that comforting - particularly during the holidays when life is hectic and I am ready to relax at the end of the day. There are some twists and turn along the way that were enjoyable and kept my interest and the setting of Manhattan is utilized well in the story. While a good book, I didn't think it measured up to "Mrs. Miracle" and felt a bit rushed. A couple of characters in the book have drastic turnarounds in behavior and attitude that are sudden, jarring, and totally unexplained -- character development is largely non-existent throughout. An easy, comfortable read that I enjoyed but wasn't as well-done as the first one.
